I studied Tropical Landuse and development sociology at Wageningen University, during which I spent over a year in South Africa and Tanzania. After this I became a journalist, learning the profession through a course at the University college of Utrecht, but moreover through on-the-job training at Cereales publishers, which used to produce the university weekly of Wageningen University. By now I have over thirteen years of experience as a science journalist, the last years as a freelancer.
My interest in politics made me a member of the council of the city of Wageningen from 2006 till 2010 for the Dutch Green party. I worked for some time at Fairfood international to gain experiene at a non-governmental organisation.
I am also a father, gardener, karateka, zenbuddhist and inhabitant of a cradle-to-cradle house (agrodome).
